I'm pooped! What a day...this is what happens when the sun doesn't make an appearance. Just got this quilt pieced and quilted and I'm ready for a rest. I made several quilts last fall when Deer Valley first came out and when I saw a fabric bundle for sale on Etsy a few weeks ago I decided to do another. Love the colors. Well it really isn't me to wish for "bad" weather but this cooler, overcast weekend has me in the mood for sewing. Without temptations of sun and pool I can easily spend full days in my studio sewing away! Yesterday I got this new one quilted. These are the new Patricia Bravo fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics called Paradise. Have you ever used Art Gallery Fabrics? They are gorgeous!! They even print "Feel the Difference" on the selvage and when you do feel them you will know why. So, so smooth and soft to the touch.
Also want to tell you that this pattern is from a fellow Etsy quilter Quiltville and the pattern is called Meadow Blocks. It uses just 16 fat quarters and goes together SUPER FAST! If you're looking for a fast project that will show off all the popular larger scale prints this is a pattern for you.

I'm trying to remember when my fascination with BasicGrey fabrics started. I think it was about 3 years ago or so. For me, Urban Couture was first, then Eva, Figgy Pudding, Blush and for the holiday this year it is Fruit Cake. And now here is Origins. I LOVE them all. It would seem I am a big fan. The designers are best known for their paper and scrap book products but I am so glad they branched out into fabric. More pics of this quilt in my Etsy Shop!
Oh my, these fabrics from Free Spirit called Heavenly Peace are truly the silkiest cottons I have ever worked with! Just gorgeous. And I love that while they are holiday fabrics you can easily use this quilt all year round if you want. Very subtle holiday prints and great colors. And the paisley back is to die for!! I have declared here before that I am NOT a scrappy quilter. Not even close. Yet I use some fabulous fabrics and I always end up with some equally fabulous scraps. So every day for the next week starting today I am listing a $20 scrap bag in my Etsy shop. Got to make room for all the new stuff coming in...wait, I'm not supposed to be buying more!! Oh well.
First up are all the great pieces left over from my 3 Poppy by Laura Gunn quilts. Lots of big pieces including 2 pieces larger than half a yard. Great deal. Stay tuned all week for some great deals.
I'm back from my last mini-holiday of the summer. (By the way, I stopped reporting when I was leaving due to stories about people being robbed!). I visited a girlfriend in Palm Desert for 5 days and if you want hot that's where you go in August. Actually it was a little too hot:) Got back in time for a relaxing weekend before the work week started again. Spent the day Saturday in Napa in wine country...driving between wineries, sampling some great wines and taking in a terrific lunch. We're kind of spoiled. I tend to forget that people from all over the world plan their vacations to be here and if we feel like popping in for lunch on any given day we can do that!
This is my first vacation time in awhile without major sewing and/or quilting but managed to get this pieced and quilted Sunday and Monday evening. I just love the backing fabric (Big Poppy from the Laura Gunn Poppy line). More pics available in my Etsy shop!
