Almost forgot a finish...

Here is the Sugar Snap charm quilt all quilted. This fabric has a particularly nice silky finish. It is really beautiful. And the backing reminds me of my childhood Spirograph art:)

I've been very bad...again?

I've been very good working through my stash but two things can distract me easily - a great sale and really pretty fabric. LOL. The mail lady left me two boxes of new fabric today. I just love this holiday fabric called "Have a Sheri Berry Holiday". The colors are SO pretty.

And I found all Kaffe Fassett fabric on sale 40% off at the Fat Quarter Shop last week and I couldn't resist. I might actually use these for some projects I have in mind - non-quilt projects. Need to think on it a bit.

I veered way off course...

Just like shiny objects distract some, I get easily distracted with all the fabric in my house - I mean small fabric shop with only one customer! I was looking for the backing for what will become my Art Gallery quilt and I came across these charms already cut and ready to be pieced. So off I went...the fabric is called Sugar Snap by Free Spirit. I have a pretty wild fabric for the back. I'll post pics when I get it quilted.

The Great Deer Valley Scrap Challenge + Art Gallery Fabrics = My Weekend

This is what I have in store for myself for the weekend though I reserve the right to change my mind at the cutting moment:) I am making a dent in my stash but the choices are still overwhelming.

First, I've cut the largest scraps from the Deer Valley quilt into 2 1/2 in strips and I have 12 of them. I also have two half-yard pieces and a few other scraps. I am determined to turn them into something, just not sure what yet. Second, I closed my eyes and pointed so out came these pretty Art Gallery fabrics I've had for months. I will keep you posted.

Done before sunset...

It's really important to capture good pictures for Etsy so I was glad I was able to finish the quilting on the Deer Valley so I could take pics before the sun went down. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I especially like the thread color, it's a pale coffee brown and it blended perfectly!

And then the little pieces were blocks...

All my blocks are now together! Looking to sew the rows together and at least get it loaded for quilting by tonight.

I didn't take long to cut into the Deer Valley from Joel Dewberry. It's really beautiful up close. This line of fabric has several different color ways with this one called Azure. I used my Take 5 Accuquilt die to cut 10 half yard cuts. That yields 30 scrappy blocks! And finally, I have started a scrap bin. LOL I have never saved a scrap in 3 years of quilting but there is no time like the present to start. Congratulations to me:)

It's a wrap for the Amy Butler rectangle quilt...

Whew. This is bigger than the quilts I normally make so it took longer to quilt but I am thrilled with how it turned out. The fabric is just gorgeous to the touch. If I had a twin bed in my house this might be a keeper.

Look what the mail lady dropped off today...

Yeah. My Deer Valley by Joel Dewberry. I can hardly wait to cut into it. And sew it back together of course!

The borders are on and now it needs a good pressing before I can put it on the quilting frame.
