It's going to be a scorcher (s)...

Here in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay area we are under a heat advisory for the next two days. I've just spent the last 10 minutes closing every blind in the house, closing the AC vents in my un-used rooms and turned on the AC to get the house cool so I can stay ahead of the heat. It's 9 am and it's 80 degrees already. They expect it to go to 105+ degrees. My sewing studio is in an upstairs bedroom with high vaulted ceilings. That means there is not a lot of insulation between the ceiling and the roof. So it gets very hot here fast. I may be forced to take my sewing machine downstairs this afternoon so I can piece in coolness. I sold 5 quilts in my Etsy shop this week so I will be busy working on replacements. I'm still in de-stash mode though I did succumb yesterday to the 30% off sale at Fabric.com. I couldn't help myself. Anyway, I came across this fabric last night. It is called the Daisy collection from Timeless Treasures. It's really pretty and I've had it about a year. Time to make it into something.

I made the deadline...

For the t-shirt quilt. I just got home from the party. It was a big hit with all the employees. And the person receiving it was thrilled. Here is a pic of me and a colleague holding it up at the office yesterday before I had the binding on. I did a solid black binding and an overall meander in dark grey thread. Not sure I would want to do more t-shirt quilts but I'm glad I've done one!

Volunteering is admirable yet dangerous...

A senior (well loved) executive is leaving our company and we got last minute notice that his departure celebration is this Friday. I have been collecting company t-shirts for awhile now with the idea that "one day" I would make a wall hanging for the office. Well, now I'm making a t-shirt quilt for FRIDAY! This Friday. Today is the deadline for everyone to drop off more that they have and starting tonight I'm pretty dedicated to working on this project in time for a Friday evening delivery:) Here are some of the first blocks that I managed to get done last night by midnight. Oh, by the way...this will be my first t=shirt quilt!!! Wish me luck.
